Abstract

WHO defines high load countries (HBC) for TB based on 3 indicators, that is TB, TB/HIV, and MDR-TBC. Indonesia, along with 13 other countries, are included in HBC list for 3 indicators. This means Indonesia has a big problem in dealing with tuberculosis. WHO reports that approximately 10 million people worldwide suffer from tuberculosis, 1.6 million of have died. Indonesia ranks third with the most TB cases in the world. Improvements in the prevention of tuberculosis continue to be carried out and have overcome with several strategies from Ministry of Health, one which is increasing the expansion of DOTS (Directly Observed Treatment Short-course) services. DOTS is a strategy to increase public knowledge about tuberculosis through counseling in accordance with local culture, about tuberculosis in the community, by empowering the community and tuberculosis patients, as well as providing access and service standards needed for tuberculosis patients. Factors that influence the healing of tuberculosis patients is knowledge and behavior related to healing of tuberculosis patients. The type of research is Experimental research by examining the influence between variables. Based the results of the study, the level of knowledge before given health education was 1.44, while the level of knowledge after of health education was 1.88. statistical test obtained p value 0.000. Based on the results of the study, the conclusion of this research is the influence of health education tuberculosis on the knowledge of tuberculosis patient in the ​​Mopuya Public Health Center.
