NURSE'S COPING MECHANISM TO FACE ANXIETY IN COVID-19 PANDEMIC ERA AT ANUGERAH STATE HOSPITAL TOMOHON CITY

Coping mechanisms are a way to get out of stress or trauma, help someone manage emotions. The purpose of determining the coping strategy is to adapt to demands or pressures both from within and from outside. Nurses are one of the health workers who are very vulnerable to the impact of the emergence of COVID-19. The purpose of this study was to obtain an overview of the coping mechanisms of nurses in dealing with anxiety during the COVID-19 pandemic at Anugerah Hospital, Tomohon City. This research was conducted from December 2021 to January 2022 using a quantitative descriptive research design. The sampling technique is total sampling with a sample size of 95 people. The results showed that the adaptive coping mechanism by ticking in column 3 (always) in the questionnaire was mostly in the prayer category 63 respondents (70.0%) and ticking in column 2 (often) in the category of seeking information, light physical exercise and thinking. each 35 respondents optimistic (38.9%). The results of the research of respondents who use maladaptive coping mechanisms, namely by ticking column 3 (Always) in the category of switching to game activities and active social media 11 respondents (12.2%) and ticking in column 2 (often) mostly in the category diverting to game activities and active social media 36 respondents (40.0%). Based on the results of this study, it is expected that the hospital leadership will improve the psychological well-being of nurses, such as holding joint recreational activities so that the nurse's coping mechanism becomes better.Downloads
