Introduction: Poor health can reduce quality of life, especially among the elderly who often experience myalgia. Limited knowledge prevents them from properly managing pain, particularly through safer natural therapies with fewer side effects than chemical drugs. This study aimed to determine the effect of video-based health education on myalgia management using Cymbopogon citratus (lemongrass) on the knowledge and skills of the elderly.
Methods: This study used a quasi-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design. The population consisted of 55 respondents, with 48 selected using purposive sampling. The independent variable was video-based health education on myalgia management using Cymbopogon citratus, while the dependent variables were knowledge and skills. Data were collected using validated and reliable questionnaires. Statistical analysis used the Wilcoxon test with a significance level of p < 0.05.
Results: Before the intervention, most respondents had low knowledge (83.3%). After the intervention, most were in the good category (64.6%). Skills before the intervention were mostly poor (95.8%), while after the intervention all respondents (100%) reached the good category. The Wilcoxon test showed significant results (p = 0.00), with knowledge value -6.044 and skill value -6.367. Conclusion: Video-based health education on myalgia management using Cymbopogon citratus (lemongrass) significantly improves the knowledge and skills of the elderly. This approach is expected to increase awareness of safe and effective pain management.
